Sisters and brothers,
We are thankful for being able to come together on a weekly basis for the last two weeks! Praise God!
Since we started meeting there has been a significant increase in new COVID cases and deaths in Oklahoma. The GC Surrey Hills Leadership has been monitoring the COVID-19 situation for our state, OKC, and Canadian County closely the last couple of weeks. We have been paying attention to the guidelines that are being rolled out and what the government officials are recommending and/or requiring. We want to give an update on our response as we continue to gather weekly.
First, we must remember that our hope is only in Jesus. Our mission is to love God, love people, and serve others. This situation has turned into a major political issue that has brought great division in our nation, in our world, and worse in many relationships. Our decision in this matter is NOT political. Our decisions will be based on gathering as much information from various sources, discussing with our leadership, seeking counsel from our Regional Director, and most importantly in prayer.
Based on the current information that we have gathered, we have made the following decisions to enable us to gather as safely as possible.
- We HIGHLY recommend, and HIGHLY encourage that masks be worn while inside the building. Unless you are eating or drinking.
- We will be spacing out our chairs to practice physical distancing of 6 feet or more. We ask and recommend that physical distancing of at least 6 feet is practiced as an individial as much as possible.
- If you do not feel well, showing any kinds of symptoms, or running a fever, we ask that you do NOT attend. Get better and we will see you the following week…if not sooner.
- Use hand sanitizer often. There will be bottles of hand sanitizer at most tables.
As always, if you do not feel comfortable not meeting indoors, you can always join us online every Sunday by going here.
At this point, we do not see it necessary to cancel coming together in person. However, if new data causes us to make the decision then we will do what is most loving for one another.
We believe that we can still come together in a safe manner if we will all work together and love one another. Jesus is in control.
We look forward and expectantly wait for our return together and see you all!
We love you!
Grace and peace,
