Sisters and brothers,

We are excited at the opportunity to begin gathering together and soft launch into the community of Surrey Hills on August 1! You all, our church family, have endured the last 1.5 years during this pandemic with great faith, patience, and support. It has been a challenging road but I believe that we have grown in God’s grace.

Though COVID-19 has seemed to be slowing down due to various reasons, there has been a constant increase in the new variant of COVID-19. The GC Surrey Hills Leadership has been monitoring the COVID-19 situation for our state, OKC, and Canadian County closely the last several days. We have been paying attention to the guidelines that are being rolled out and what the government officials are recommending and/or requiring. We want to give an update on our response as we begin to gather again indoors.

First, we must remember that our hope is only in Jesus. Our mission is to love God, love people, and serve others. This situation has turned into a major political issue that has brought great division in our nation, in our world, and worse in many relationships. Our decision in this matter is NOT political. Our decisions will be based on gathering as much information from various sources, discussing with our leadership, seeking counsel from our Regional Director, and most importantly in prayer.

Based on the current information that we have gathered, we have made the following decisions to enable us to gather as safely as possible.

  • We recommend, and highly encourage that masks be worn while inside the building. Unless you are eating or drinking.
  • We recommend that physical distancing of at least 6 feet is practiced as much as possible.
  • If you do not feel well, showing any kinds of symptoms, or running a fever, we ask that you do NOT attend. Get better and we will see you the following week…if not sooner.
  • Use hand sanitizer often. There will be bottles of hand sanitizer at most tables.

As always, if you do not feel comfortable not meeting indoors, you can always join us online every Sunday by going here.

We understand that this has been a difficult season. You can trust us when we say that our desire is to not have to make decisions like this. However, we believe that we can still come together in a safe manner if we will all work together and love one another. Jesus is in control.

We look forward and expectantly wait for our return together and see you all!
We love you!

Grace and peace,
