November 25 (the day before Thanksgiving) was a very exciting day in Surrey Hills. As seen in the photos below, a concrete crew began the work of pouring the concrete floor pad for our church and ministry training center building.
In the days before, electrical and plumbing lines were run underground throughout the building area. Following this, a gravel base and plastic fluid barrier was installed.
At 5:00 am on November 25, the crew arrived with a concrete pump. Trunk after truck of concrete mix arrived. The entire perimeter of wooden forms for building was filled with concrete, a process finished by noon that day. This was followed by several hours of men floating polishing machines over the entire floor surface, leaving a smooth and shiny concrete floor.
It is now possible to walk on the floor and envision the locations of the sanctuary, welcome center, multi-purpose reception room, children’s classrooms, and ministry training center rooms. These are marked off by electrical and plumbing conduits standing up from the concrete.
Early in January, the steel structure and walls will begin to be erected. In the meantime, feel free to visit the site at 12201 Ashford Drive, Yukon (Surrey Hills). We wait with great anticipation to see how this facility will be used to serve our community and bring the good news of life in Jesus to many near and far!
